Intro to Architecture and Interior Design

Tuesday 10:00 am to 11:30 am

10 week session starting August 22, 2023

Materials: $75-$125 List provided after registering 

Course Description: This course is intended to engage, excite and enlighten high school students to pursue careers in architecture and interior design through mentorship and education. Exposure to the career path in the architecture and design industry will prepare students for their advancement into the industry. This 10-week program will include: informational lessons, hands-on activities, guest speakers, and individual + group projects. The weekly lessons will be prepared by mentors with specific topics which will build towards the semester-end project. All sessions will include brief presentations as well as interactive activities. Students will be grouped by interests and a range of skills to develop a mock design project to be presented to the group at the semester-end. The final session will be hosted at the IA Interior Architects office in uptown Charlotte. Mentors will work with students on presentation skills and preparation of the design projects. Students can expand their knowledge and skills, gain valuable advice and build professional networks. Students-led sessions will be held weekly on Tuesdays for individual and group work assignments.
