Welcome! Thank you so much for your interest in Mountain Island Learning Community (MILC).  MILC will meet for 30 weeks starting August 24, 2023 - May 23, 2024.  Listed below is a tentative schedule:

HIGH SCHOOL

Course Description:  Join us as we read and write our way through The Lord of the Rings! Author J.R.R. Tolkein has been called the father of modern fantasy- tales of wizards, elves, dwarves, men, and orcs.  His stories contain enduring friendships and epic adventures in beautiful language that you will never forget. 

During our 34 week in-person course, we will read all three books in The Lord of the Rings series, discussing the books during class time, and we will learn the overarching writing skills that you will need to thrive in high school and begin to feel well prepared for college. From creative reflective writing to learning the framework for a few basic essays, I strive to make writing feel achievable and easy to learn, whether you have a lot of experience writing yet or not, and we’ll have lots of fun with it along the way.

* There is a $50 registration fee per child, which is due at registration to secure your child's spot ($150 maximum registration fee per family). 

* The facility fee is $45 per year.

* Tuition is due one week after registration.
